With a new year comes winter, and so does a fresh start to a new year of music. So far there has been quite a collection of personal favorites in 2016, and it’s becoming more and more exciting to hear what will come next. Here’s a small start..

From Manchester, England, BEN PEARCE is known as a famous British DJ and producer with a hypnotic music style reflecting visions of deep house, funk, and soul. In February, BEN PEARCE shared his surprise debut EP Pomelo released on Moda Black featuring only three songs: two versions of Pomelo, and a second track titled 12407 which all provide a mix of addictive and atmospheric instrumental longing.
Multi-talented producer KAYTRANADA works with different genres blending hip hop beats with chilled out grooves. In this track, KAYTRANADA reworks the sensual vocals of Jamie Woon, ups the tempo, adds in drums, and a mirage of big brass in the background.
The genius behind the r&b sounds of DVSN links back to Drake/OVO producer Nineteen85, but the vocalist and true identity still remains unknown. DVSN’s style sounds familiar, and possesses a genuine sensitivity made for the romantic and heartbroken.
R&B duo MAJID JORDAN features singer Majid Al Maskati and producer Jordan Ullman who are known for collaborating on Drake’s anthem “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” Together MAJID JORDAN recently released their debut self-titled album, and the first track “Something About You” is nothing short of amazing.
French beat-maker and C2C member 20SYL reworked Odesza‘s “It’s Only” (ft. Zara) using lush synths, and upbeat grooves that take the beautiful original and transform it into another magical world.
The finishing touches are being made on FLUME‘s sophomore release SKIN. The first single from the LP is “Never Be Like You featuring Kai” which was created between the two before ever meeting by sending ideas back and forth online, and then meeting up in NYC taking it to a rich intensity.
RÜFÜS has created an emotional masterpiece with the single “Innerbloom.” Deep in melancholy but structured in pure elegance, RÜFÜS provides spellbinding lyrics and vulnerable tendencies in the way each instrument takes its place one by one, allowing enough room for the music and feeling to sink in together.
