From Seattle, ODESZA is production duo Harrison Mills (Catacombkid) and Clayton Knight (BeachesBeaches). Less than two years ago the two met as college seniors at Western Washington University, and quickly began to merge their unique electronic styles. In 2012 Odesza self-released their debut entitled “Summer’s Gone” which quickly grew them an audience, and last summer they released the beautiful “My Friends Never Die” plus a free downloadable remix of the entire EP.  Together the pair enjoy playing around with surprise samples of indie music like Goyte‘s “Somebody That I Used to Know” for example in Odesza’s song “Without You,” and mixing it into their own creation featuring futuristic melodies of dreamy vocals, amplified synths, crashing drums, and warped basslines.

Please enjoy and listen below to Odesza’s latest “My Friends Never Die”, it was definitely a special favorite of 2013.

“One glimpse is all it takes to tell you that Music Is Art is something special. You can start by judging this blog by its cover—it’s one of the best-designed, most aesthetically aware music blogs around—but there’s much more to it than just a pretty template. For one, Danielle, the “dreamer/designer” behind MIA, focuses not only on excellent music, but on art, photography and writing and how they all intersect and inform the music. By sharing the sounds and sights that inspire her, she’s inspiring a growing number of readers on a daily basis. By documenting artists’ creative processes, she’s, in the process, creating a pretty substantial, always-evolving work of art herself.” - Nerd Litter
