lou reed’s metal machine trio

Originally, Lou Reed released the double noise album “Metal Machine Music” in 1975. Known as one of his most avant garde departures and deeply immortalized by legendary rock-n-roll journalist Lester Bangs, MMM became eventually considered as the beginning of the “noise music” genre.

Now almost twenty-five years later, Lou Reed is bringing his noise project to life as the Metal Machine Trio (MM3). By improvising live on processed and unprocessed guitars, Lou has invited Ulrich Krieger on tenor sax and live-electronics, and Sarth Calhoun on live processing and Fingerboard Continuum.

Together with no songs and no vocals, MM3 will be performing two upcoming shows at the Blender Theater at Gramercy in NYC on April 23rd and 24th, and it’s sincerely guaranteed that no two shows will be alike! Also, please note that tickets are half-price with a valid student ID when purchased at Blender or Irving Plaza.

All I’m waiting for now is when Neil Young re-visits ‘Arc’.
