“These rhymes [in Tangible Dream] were written in economy class seats, these beats were produced on long bus trips & these songs were recorded in airbnb apartments. All I want to do is make music for a living so that I can live to make music [and] perhaps the world may never know of my accomplishments, but accomplishments they are nonetheless.”

“You don’t really get why I’m so pissed? Understand this: I’m an artist, and I’m sensitive about my shit. Yes I’m fragile. I never thought I’d be so fragile. If it didn’t break before, it’s about to. I don’t ever want to change. I don’t ever…”

“This was the closest thing I could get to a RZA beat at the time. I felt like it was an unorthodox beat that required me to really rap. And I figured that’s gonna set me apart from what’s going on in music, cause I don’t believe people are like, really, really rapping. It’s polarizing. “I executive produced my pop’s [E-40] last double album and now we’re going back in on this new one. So that’s really my main thing right now, working on his album. Everything I’m doing is just genuine. If you notice the features I create are with people I really know, I’ve known for years…I’m a genuine person. So the people I wanna work with, I want them to wanna work with me, too. I want it to be a mutual respect. I got this Pablo Picasso complex, where I always strive to be original and do something different. So we’ll see how that works out.”

About The Author

“One glimpse is all it takes to tell you that Music Is Art is something special. You can start by judging this blog by its cover—it’s one of the best-designed, most aesthetically aware music blogs around—but there’s much more to it than just a pretty template. For one, Danielle, the “dreamer/designer” behind MIA, focuses not only on excellent music, but on art, photography and writing and how they all intersect and inform the music. By sharing the sounds and sights that inspire her, she’s inspiring a growing number of readers on a daily basis. By documenting artists’ creative processes, she’s, in the process, creating a pretty substantial, always-evolving work of art herself.” - Nerd Litter
