been around the world
in many situations
been inside many heads
in different positions

….
’cause you simply deserve the best
and i don’t blame you

“The time when I wrote these songs, I thought I was going to die. I thought I was going to go to hell. I thought I was going to be taken from my house into the spiritual world. Like, maybe some people might call that mental insanity, but I thought that I was going to die. I thought some pretty insane shit that I’ve never thought before, I thought I was in a dream, I couldn’t tell what was reality, and the songs like came from a distance from myself. Like, I had to just ‘shut off’, just play and sing, and the songs came. From my subconscious, I guess. It was like, y’know, ‘my darkest night’, and I won in the end. I won, you know. You know what I mean?”

i came across this wonderful art installation project thats being created & shared throughout the world called *you are beautiful.* its simply designed to spread the important message::

you are beautiful. you are beautiful.

you are beautiful. you are beautiful.

you are beautiful.

you are beautiful. you are beautiful.

you are beautiful. you are beautiful.

this should be our new revolution, slowly others may believe in the magic too — be apart of the other side. we all need to learn to be a lil more kind to one another. im not quite sure why some of us get it, and some of us don’t. if you haven’t told this to someone lately, please do.

you may also print some stickers here and spread them all around yr city.

enjoy some more *special* links:l o v e exists

as far back as i can recall i’ve tasted life with grace and an insatiable curiosity. i remember falling in love with words, music and design at a very early age, and forever had longed to surround myself in an intelligent, genuine and creative atmosphere. my strengths consumed me with wanting to learn how to write properly, think cohesively and find beauty in every tiny detail that surrounded me…

…..[songs that got me through]…..

the wonderful blog *the late greats* and i have done a lil collaborating. every music blog out there truly shares a gift with one another. we may not all have the same taste in styles or art but we all have the same passion. it really means alot to be sharing words, music and art with people who understand.

thankyou.

leave the orbit, take off from the cycle

I admit I’ve been missing out on Console‘s charm until only very recently. Based in Weilheim/Munich, they formed in the late nineteen-nineties. Led by TheNotwist‘s lead programmer, Martin Gretschmann, Console maintains a distinct sound that only at times borrows from The Notwist sound. Suck and Run has a beat that just keeps me going, while My Dog Eats Beats is closer to an experiment in electonica than an actual developed song. If yr a fan of anything Morr definately check these guys out.

“Too many people, and actually too many German musicians, take themselves too seriously. I just try not to be like this. I try to be more funny. When we play live, we have a lot of fun on stage, because life is much easier if you laugh a lot,” says Gretschmann in a 2001 interview.Watching Console‘s videos are adequate proof.

my city was gone

i ask where she’s headed
she tells me, “ohio, i’ve not seen my mother in ages
it’s been a long timea real long time.

damien jurado
ohio

i took her by her golden curls
and drug her down to the river-side
and there i threw her into drown
and i watched her as she floated down

johnny cash & june carter
banks of ohio

what if you knew her
and found her dead on the ground,
how can you run when you know?

crosby stills nash & young
four dead in ohio

sorry that
i could never love you back
i could never care enough
in these last days

sun kil moon
carry me ohio

our hearts are used up
cracked and dry
pulled the scabs off of regrets
we haven’t learned to read our conscience yet
truly sorry, i see clearly

Today I will step out of yr past

The Notwist have been a favourite band of mine for some time now. It was from CBC’s Brave New Waves that I first heard ”Consequence” from their fifth album, Neon Golden. Markus Acher’s soothing vocals are a refreshing change from the commonplace vocals surrounding today’s music industry. Acher (vocals/guitar) forms, with the talents of brother Micha Acher (bass), Martin Gretschmann (programmer/keyboards), and Martin Messerschmidt (drums), a unique and intriguing sound.

Every time I hear a Notwist album, my mind creates an open meadow to meander and discover. I hope this goes for everyone.

Consequence

You’re the colour, you’re the movement and the spin. (Never)
Could it stay with me the whole day long?
Fail with consequence, lose with eloquence and smile.
I’m not in this movie, I’m not in this song.
Never leave me paralyzed, love.
Leave me hypnotized, love.
You’re the colour, you’re the movement and the spin. (Never)
Could it stay with me the whole day long?
Fail with consequence, lose with eloquence and smile.
You’re not in this movie. You’re not in this song.
Never Leave me paralyzed, love.
Leave me hypnotized, love.
Leave me paralyzed, love.
Leave me hypnotized, love.

Sunday Best (Week 10)

Monday, July 10th, 2006

Yes, yes, I know..it’s Monday, and I’m posting the “Sunday Best.” Well my internet at home was down all last night, so that’s the reason for the delay. Maybe I should go to calling it another name, so I don’t really have to post it on Sunday. Anyway, just a thought. Here are this weeks’ songs!

I love anything that Jimmy Gnecco is involved with. This is a song that he did with an ex-Ah-ha member, Paul Waaktaar’s newest project, Savoy. I honestly haven’t given much attention to the Savoy project as a whole, but this song is really powerful and shows another dimension of Jimmy’s musical talents, as this is way out of the norm for him. This is a great tune.

The Breakers Featuring Jimmy Gnecco of Ours

I can still recall the time
Sitting in the sand and watching breakers
As they roll upon the shore
You just walked right up to me
Having asked around you had no takers
To take you far away from me
Then I come along to hold your hand
Everything is up and it’s alright
Cause I feel the engine pulling
The storms are in days’ light
Everything is down is it’s okay
Because I feel the engine humming
And it’s taking us away
I’ve been seeing you around
Sitting in the sand and watching breakers
As they roll upon the shore
You always had your friends around
Something you should know, I think they’re fakers
I’m the only one you need
Here I come along to hold your hand
Everything is off, but that’s just fine
Cause I see the engine running
Down the straight white line
Everything goes wrong, but that’s alright
Cause I hear the engine running
As it penetrates the night
Where do we go from here?
Stepping into thin air
How do we work it out?
Where do we check our doubts?
Everything is up and it’s alright
Cause I feel the engine pulling
I stop a new days’ light
Everything is down is it’s okay
Because I feel the engine humming
And it’s taking us away
But that’s just fine
Cause I see the engine running
Down the straight white line
Everything goes wrong, but that’s alright
Cause I hear the engine running
As it penetrates the night

I remember the first time I ever heard Failure I was watching tv and I heard “Stuck On You” as the background music of something. I was instantly interested in what I was hearing, and during this time, the internet was in its infancy, so it took me awhile to actually find out what song it was. When I finally found it, and purchased Fantastic Planet, I quickly realized I had purchased a really solid record. The album as a whole is still one of my favorites to date, but this song will always stand out to me.

Stuck On You

I heard you driving in my car
Then in a frozen bar
I claimed I didn’t care for you
But your verse got trapped inside my head
Over and over again
You played yourself to death in me

I thought I’d drop you easily
But that was not to be
You burrowed like a summer tic
So you invade my sleep and confuse my dreams
Turn my nights to sleepless itch

Stuck on you till the end of time
I’m too tired to fight your rhyme
Stuck on you till the end of time
You’ve got me paralyzed

Holding on the telephone
I hear your midrange moan
You’re everywhere inside my room
Even when I’m alone, I hear your mellow drone
You’re everywhere inside of me

Stuck on you till the end of time
I’m too tired to fight your rhyme
Stuck on you till the end of time
You’ve got me trapped inside

I can’t escape your incessant whine
When you beam it out all across the sky
No I can’t escape your insipid rhyme
When you shoot it deep
Straight into my mind
