“Paul Laffoley, a painter and architect, is one of the most encyclopedic of visionary geniuses.” – Alex Grey

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I must say that I am just now expanding my mind enough to fathom the power that a man like Paul Laffoley truly has in his painting and architecture. Laffoley, now 65 years old, is a man that isn’t easily summarized with words. The first word that he spoke as a child was “constantinople” when he was six months old. Most recently he was hired on to redesign the World Trade Center site, but was fired because of his unconventional ideas.

Another fact that totally enthralls my interest is the piece of metal that was discovered in his head near his pineal gland in 1992 during a CT scan. Laffoley believes that the metal is an implant and extraterrestrial in origin. He also believes that its the main motivation behind his ideas and theories.

I implore you all to expand into the world of Paul Laffoley

“suckin’ on my titties like you wanted me, calling me all the time like blondie, check out my chrissie b hynde, it’s fine all of the time. like sex on the beach is. what else is in the teaches of peaches?”

profound lyrics they are not. songs-to-play-to-your-parents they are not. but fun, dirty tunes, yes. this is what peaches does. songs to strip to, songs to fuck to, songs to dance around in your underwear to cos you want to feel sexy.

hailing from toronto, via berlin, peaches is notorious for her “i don’t give a fuck” attitude (for a taster, visit here), funky electroclash tunes and outlandish lyrics, often concerning sexual and gender identity.

“if we’re going to use motherfucker,

why don’t we use fatherfucker?
I’m just trying to be even.”

fire & rain is one of my favorite songs. my years of growing up, always revolved around my parents love of music. there use to be no summer without going to see james taylor live. sitting on fresh velvet green grass, feeling warm cool breezes, smiling faces, sweet good music.. peacefulness.. i miss those memories.

james taylor

for most of his life, james taylor grew up feeling pains of sadness that cathartically developed into his famous lyrics. in 1968, after recording for the beatle’s apple label and returning from london, james spent some time in a massachusetts mental instituition for depression and substance abuse. there he met a girl named susanne who he really loved and shared so many interests with creating a special friendship. a few months later, james left the hospital to go back to recording and his friends found out susanne had committed suicide. they didn’t want to tell him, afraid he would relapse and escape to drastic measures to get away from the reality so they waited until he finished his album to break the news. at the age of 22, inside a battle with drug addiction and new loss of a friend, james taylor wrote the song *fire and rain* which was released in 1970 on his second album sweet baby james and went on to bring him wide-spread attention everywhere.

just yesterday morning…
they let me know you were gone
susanne, the plans they made
put an end to you

i walked out this morning
and i wrote down this song
i just can’t remember who to send it to

ive seen fire and ive seen rain
ive seen sunny days that i thought would never end
ive seen lonely times when i could not find a friend
but i always thought that i’d see you again

go to scatter o’ light to enjoy some james taylor live.

in love with the sad purple spring under winter vision
bare bitter skin
fast true blood
two time
honey water shine
delirious .. lightly said
like pink rain in yr love dream

the tiny void
is

art by Vermeer
When at last he began to add colours on top of the false colours, I saw what he meant….When the light shone on the wall, I discovered, it was not white, but many colours. The pitcher and basin were the most complicated – they became yellow, and brown, and green, and blue. They reflected the pattern of the rug, the girl’s bodice, the blue cloth draped over the chair — everything but their true silver colour. And yet they looked as they should, like a pitcher and a basin. After that I could not stop looking at things. Tracy Chevalier

What is there to say about someone like Jeff Buckley?

Sometimes there are artists that defy words, no matter how perfectly poetic they might be. It almost seems like a sad joke to try to fish for metaphors or comparisons. There are none.

Jeff is one of those artists.

The best I can come up with is the cryptic patterns within those “Magic 3D” images that were so popular in the 90s. Not everyone gets it, even with plenty of effort- staring, squinting, turning the page. It just never coalesces into something that’s enjoyable or even tangible. But other people just get it. And once they do, it’s all they can see or think about every time they see the seemingly chaotic jumble of colors and light.

I think that Jeff has a similar effect on the world. It’s hard to believe once you’re a fan that there could be people out there who could listen to his music and not understand it, even dislike it. But it seems that with most art driven by such electric intensity, such sensuous passion, such consuming fire, it’s simply not for everyone. That’s part of what makes being a fan so special.

His music doesn’t just exist- it lives. No matter how long you’ve had his albums, Grace and Sketches For My Sweetheart the Drunk (released posthumously) or any number of his live releases, you find something new and amazing that you love about each of the songs. New favorites spring up with every listen- nuances never heard before, lyrics that have sudden new meaning, song climaxes you never noticed before that now bring you to tears. Jeff had gifts on every musical level- he was an inhuman guitarist, a deeply romantic and poetic lyricist, a phenomenal song composer, and a vocalist with a range from ethereal to vicious.

And maybe the best thing about being a Buckley fan is that despite the fact he’s been dead almost a decade, an overwhelming amount of fans report sensing his presence around them from time to time. He seems to appear most when you’re enjoying his music, lost in a moment of closed-eyed ecstasy, shouting the song out at the top of your voice. Any skeptic could easily explain away the flashes of light, the shifting and growing shadows, the overwhelming sense of someone being in the room with you, but fans know exactly who and what it was. Despite the fact that we might miss out on new music, we have a much greater gift in knowing he appreciates us appreciating him.

It’s never overmy kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulderIt’s never overall my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against herIt’s never overall my blood for the sweetness of her laughterIt’s never overshe’s the tear that hangs inside my soul forever
Well maybe I’m just too youngTo keep good love from going wrongOh lover, you should’ve come over‘Cause it’s not too late

i watched
my whole world crumble
as i dried my mother’s tears
and learned to never stumble
as i calmed my father’s fears
they say ive seen a lot
they say im wise beyond my years

from the beautiful massachusetts tiny island of martha’s vineyard, willy mason has literally been playing guitar since he was 12. incorporating levels of folk, country and blues, his whole approach to music making is very simple; he enjoys to play just the acoustic and prefers the genuine feeling of honest music story-telling. originally after conor oberst caught the beauty of willy performing one evening, he immediately signed him onto his label, team love records. now at the ripe age of 22, after releasing two cds, switching to the label astralwerks and performing before great main acts like my morning jacket, bright eyes and just recently hand-picked by radiohead, willy mason has slowly captured the hearts and minds of fans of all ages sharing a familiarity that proves he is truly mature beyond his years.

Jenny Wilson

no love ain’t just another four letter word, never! let me put it like this: let me tell you… you feel it in your chest and in your arms, you feel it in your legs and in your heart

She’s Swedish, she’s friends with The Knife and she makes damn good music. She won Best Pop Female Act at the Swedish Grammis this year, and most people haven’t heard of her. Her music’s slightly awkwardly placed between fun electropop and meaningful, poignant songs, but it works. She wrote, produced and performed everything on her album, Love & Youth (Rabid Records) and it’s an absolutely great pop record. It’s sensitive and it’s real in the way that anything you truly like and want to believe in should be.

a circle is the reflection of eternity. it has no beginning and it has no end and if you put several circles over each other, then you get a spiral. we’re five people, five individuals who came together to create something, to make music and to complete each other musically, to form a perfect circle. ++mjk++
